Requesting Proof of Insurance
A "Proof of Insurance" document is used to provide evidence that you have an active insurance policy that meets the requirements in your state. The most common proof of insurance document is the ID card mailed to car insurance policyholders.
If you need to request an insurance document - including Proof of Insurance, you have several convenient options from which you may choose.
Mobile App
Digital documentation is now legal in all 50 U.S. states. For your convenience, Altasurance offers our clients access to their insurance documents through the Glovebox App which can be downloaded on any Android or Apple phone.
Most car insurance carriers have mobile apps, as well.
Digital Copies
Keeping a photo of your Proof of Insurance on your phone is a great way to ensure that you always have a copy at hand. And, you can contact Altasurance support to request a digital copy of your ID card anytime you need one.
By Postal Mail
You should always keep physical copies of your insurance documents. If yours have been misplaced - or you need an additional copy, you can contact Altasurance support to request a copy be sent to you by postal mail. Requests can be made by phone or using the Document Request Form right here on our website.
You can also request insurance ID cards and other documents directly from your respective insurance carrier.
Print It Out
If you have an immediate need for a physical copy of your insurance ID card or another document you can print them yourself. A printable digital file can be emailed to you by submitting a request to Altasurance support.
Requests for printable copies of your document can be made by phone or using the Document Request Form right here on our website.
